✏️Writing a plan

Collaboratively compose a plan to bring your dream trip to life

The "Plan" tab in each Totepass trip allows users to create, edit, and collaborate on trip plans using a content editor composed of blocks. These blocks enable users to add different types of information related to their trip.

How the content editor works

Using the content editor is very simple. When you create a new trip, an empty editor will render. In order to create a new block, simply hover over the right side of the editor and a + button will appear. Click the + button will show you the available types of blocks and clicking on them will create the block in the editor.

Along with the + button, there is an option button. This button provides actions for the selected block, such as moving the block to another position or deleting a block. Blocks can also provide other types of options you can use to modify them. One example is the Header block, which allows changing the header level of the block.

Finally, to add a new block, hover over a block where you want the block to be created, press the + button, and select a type of block. This will add the block after the block which you hovered over.

Block types

The block editor allows the following types of blocks

The Link block allows users to add a block that contains a hyperlink to a website. When a Link block is added, it displays the title and description of the website.

Text

The Text block enables users to enter and format text within the content editor. It supports basic text formatting options such as bold, italic, underline, and marker.

To apply text formatting, you can also select the desired text and use the following shortcuts

  • Bold: Ctrl + B or Cmd + B

  • Italic: Ctrl + I or Cmd + I

  • Underline: Ctrl + U or Cmd + U

Heading

The Heading block allows users to add headings of different levels to structure their content hierarchically. There are six different heading levels available, ranging from Heading 1 (largest) to Heading 6 (smallest).

List

The List block enables users to create both ordered and unordered lists, including nested lists. To create a nested list, use the Tab key to indent the list item. To switch between ordered and unordered, click the Options button to change the listing type.

Checklist

The Checklist block allows users to create a checklist with items that can be marked as done or not done using checkboxes.

Table

The Table block enables users to create tables with rows and columns. Tables can have a header row and support basic text formatting within the cells.

To switch between having a header row or not, click the Options button to change the header type.

To apply text formatting, select the desired text (only cell by cell) and use the following shortcuts

  • Bold: Ctrl + B or Cmd + B

  • Italic: Ctrl + I or Cmd + I

  • Underline: Ctrl + U or Cmd + U

Alert

The Alert block allows users to create visually distinctive blocks for important information. Alerts can be right-aligned, centered, or left-aligned, and their type can be customised to change the background color.

To switch between alignments or type, click the Options button to change these parameters.

Available alert types are:

  • Info

  • Success

  • Warning

  • Danger

  • Light

  • Dark

Flight

The Flight block is a special block that contains information about a flight. It is rendered into the trip calendar, providing a visual representation of the flight details.

Stay

The Stay block is a special block used to specify information about accommodation during the trip. It also gets rendered into the trip calendar to reflect the stay details accurately.

When creating a Stay block, you'll need to enter the name of the city where the stay is located. The country will be automatically set based on the chosen city to ensure the correct timezone rendering in the calendar.

Train

The Train block is another special block used to provide information about train trips within the itinerary. Like the Flight and Stay blocks, the Train block is rendered into the trip calendar.

When creating a Train block, you'll need to enter the names of the cities where the train journey starts and ends. The country will be automatically set based on the chosen cities to ensure the correct timezone rendering in the calendar.

Collaborative Editing

Totepass supports real-time collaboration, allowing multiple users to work together on the same trip plan simultaneously. Each user is represented by a random color, which is used to outline the block they are currently editing.

To collaborate on a trip plan:

  1. Share the trip plan with other users or invite them.

  2. Once a user opens the trip Plan tab, the user is connected to the session. Each user can add, update, or remove blocks in real-time.

  3. To identify the user editing a particular block, hover over the block to view their name and associated color.

Collaborative editing enhances coordination and teamwork, allowing users to collectively plan and organise their trips more efficiently.
